What Is Learning?

In CEP 810 our first assignment was very fitting, to look deeper in to what learning is, and how this applies these days versus historically.  The essay is here and is written based on my professional experience combined with our reading of Bransford, Brown & Cocking’s (2000) How People Learn.  My summary of this is that learning in today’s age is beyond simple rote memorization of facts and information, but deeper understanding of content that allows for the understanding, analysis and use of information within that content.  This enables an individual who has deep understanding and the ability to take the information readily available today and use it.  In the essay I reflect on it, and the teaching methods that enable the optimization of learning.
